Partners & Ambassadors

Backed by Canberra

A not-for-profit,
community-first initiative
Thoroughbred Park is a not-for-profit, community-first club, reinvesting every dollar back into Canberra. With the backing of our partners, ambassadors, and local charities across sport, business, and tourism, we’re building a sustainable precinct that protects racing, supports local jobs and events, and strengthens the social and economic fabric of the city. Together, this network of community champions is helping to shape a vibrant future for Canberra — one that celebrates connection, opportunity, and lasting benefit for all.
“Thoroughbred Park have been generous and committed partners for our work at Hands Across Canberra. Through our Festival of Speed partnership and strong relationship we’ve reached many more Canberrans, encouraging them to give where they live. The annual Community Chest race day is increasingly valued by Canberra’s charity sector as an important way to raise funds and awareness. Thoroughbred Park cares about Canberra’s future and we are proud to work with them as we build a better Canberra together.”
Genevieve Jacobs
CEO, Hands Across Canberra
“On behalf of the ACT Scale Modellers Society (ACTSMS), a not-for-profit community organisation that proudly hosts its annual model competition and expo at Thoroughbred Park, we support the direction of the proposed redevelopment and appreciate the ACT Government’s effort to balance residential growth with the preservation of existing community and recreational assets. The ACTSMS has moved venues many times over the decades, each shift reflecting our event’s steady growth. After outgrowing schools and clubs, we found a permanent home at Thoroughbred Park in 2023. Its scale and facilities have allowed ScaleACT to flourish into one of Australia’s premier scale modelling expos, now welcoming hundreds of entries and visitors from across the country and overseas. Thoroughbred Park has been key to our national and international success, offering growth potential unmatched by any other facility in the ACT – making it an essential part of our future.”
Peter Davis
President, ACTSMS
“The Tourism Leaders Forum is a major supporter of the planned development proposed for the Thoroughbred Park Precinct. The mix of medium to high density homes, shops, and community spaces whilst retaining CRC’s racecourse, stables and event venues is a brilliant idea. It will bring a vitality to this space that will greatly enhance its appeal as a destination in its own right. Thoroughbred Park is now also recognised as a high-quality events venue, hosting many community and commercial events annually attracting tens of thousands of Canberrans and visitors. This masterplan will transform the area into a vibrant location where people can live, work, and play all year round”
David Marshall AM
Chair, Canberra Region Tourism Leaders Forum
“Thoroughbred Park’s longstanding support for RNCAS through event sponsorship, venue access and collaborative community programs has been invaluable, and we applaud the Club’s commitment to reinvesting benefits back into the local community. The proposed development and vision will add vibrancy to the precinct, create new opportunities to grow Canberra’s tourism economy, which in turn will benefit all those businesses and events throughout the precinct. We support the vision and look forward to seeing the project come to life.”
Adelina La Vita
CEO, Royal National Capital Agricultural Society
“As the peak body for Canberra’s licensed community clubs, ClubsACT welcomes the Thoroughbred Park precinct entering formal community consultation. This is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to deliver well-located homes, and local amenities close to light rail and jobs—while retaining the racecourse, stables and event venues that anchor a vibrant events and visitor economy in the city’s northern gateway.

Importantly, as a not-for-profit sporting club, the Canberra Racing Club’s commitment to reinvest any development benefits back into racing, major events and the broader community aligns squarely with our sector’s social purpose. We see real potential here to contribute meaningfully to the ACT Government’s housing goals, strengthen employment and hospitality activity, and create a connected destination where people can live, work and play. ClubsACT supports the major plan amendment process and encourages constructive community input to help shape a thoughtful, sustainable design integrated with the existing precinct”
Craig Shannon
CEO, ClubsACT
“Thoroughbred Park’s long-term vision promises a vibrant, well-connected destination that benefits local families, businesses and community organisations. As a charity enabling home ownership for people with intellectual disabilities, we welcome plans that bring housing, accessibility and community life closer together. We support the consultation and invite Canberrans to engage.”
Michael Claessens
CEO, Project Independence
“We’ve proudly worked with Thoroughbred Park for over five years through our Digi Culture & Music Festival and other collaborative events. Across that time, we’ve seen firsthand the Club’s commitment to supporting local culture, creativity, and community connection. We’re fully supportive of the proposed masterplan and the opportunities it represents — not just for Thoroughbred Park, but for Canberra’s broader cultural and entertainment landscape. The vision to create a vibrant, inclusive, and multi-purpose precinct aligns strongly with our shared goal of building spaces where people can connect through music, art, and community.”
