Underutilised land surrounding the racecourse will be revitalised into a destination precinct combining residential, retirement and visitor accommodation, combined with commercial spaces for Canberra businesses.

Located on the doorstep of Canberra’s CBD and surrounded by recreational and hospitality amenity and with easy access to public transport – Thoroughbred Park has the potential to provide welcome residential options to the people of Canberra and draw more visitors to our beautiful city.

This project will ensure the future sustainability of Thoroughbred Park and its ongoing ability to provide vital financial assistance to Canberra charities providing cancer support services, palliative and respite care, disability services, and more.

Horse racing in the Canberra district goes back as far as the 1860’s and next year we will celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Canberra Cup.

Thoroughbred Park is intrinsically entwined in the foundation of Canberra’s sporting heritage. We are excited to be able to build on this legacy.
